Thanks stormraven,
Good point on borrowing someone's spare saber, someone actually made that point to me once before, i'll be sure to keep it in mind this time.

The boots were borrowed so i'll probably have to look for a more permanent solution, which is a bit of a bummer. I don't think i'll be able get away with spending any less than $100 either :S

I would need a proper look, however here is what I can say. The belt needs replacing and maybe add a pouches and/or utilities and a saber clip or hook. Here are the costume Standards outlined on the RL website. http://www.rebellegion.com/jedi-costume-...s-generic/

Here is the part about belts.
4. Jedi Belt: Black or Brown Utility Belt (all belts should be proportional to wearer):
* Style A: Similar to Prequel Jedi belts: Wide leather main (inner, against the Obi) belt with a thinner secondary belt (outer) on top of the main belt, and a movie-style or similar buckle on the secondary belt.
a. Thinner secondary belt cannot be loose or “sag”.
b. Button studs should be used to help anchor the outer/thinner belt to the inner/wider belt. Generally, 8, eight button studs ([censored] posts or Chicago Screws, preferred) are used. Sam Browne button studs are permitted. The metal of the studs should match the metal of the buckle.
* Style B: Similar to Original Trilogy (Luke and Old Ben) belts: Singular wide leather belt with a rectangular, octagonal or oval unadorned buckle.
a. Belts are generally two inches to two and a half inches wide, but the width should be in proportion to the wearer. Very tall or large costumers may need a wider belt. Very short people may need a narrower belt.
b. Belt closures (Velcro, snaps, etc.) should not be visible.
c. No Earth-bound buckles or buckles that obviously belong to an Earth-bound period, culture or to other sci-fi/fantasy genres.
d. Belt and boots should match (be of a complimentary color), i.e., black and black or brown and brown. No black/brown combinations.

Hope this helps. Wink

As for a saber, you need at least a hilt (no toys). I would suggest against borrowing, because should the judges ever find out, they may not be too happy. Wink

Thanks Hopfot Smile

Iv'e had my eyes on this belt for a while, It looks to meet the standards and at a good price for what it is. The colour will obviously depend on boots > http://www.thecostumebase.com/obi-deluxe...cessories/

I actually have a saber hilt, posted it on here some time ago. So I wouldn't borrow a saber for the purposes of approval, only for events which require an illuminated blade, which is what stormraven was suggesting.

Ah right. My bad. Yep, that's a good belt to go for. My Old Republic Jedi is a Costume Base jedi. Infact you'll find many members of the RL that have one. It's a great starter to joining the Rebellion.

Have you had a look at Ultrasabers for a Light up Saber hilt? It can be expensive come Postage, but when ordering multiple sabers they'll generally try and fit 4 in a box, which saves on P&H. Wink

Oh as for the hilt, if Zerebin could get a look at it, perhaps he might be able to put some electrics inside if there is room. Wink

I was considering Ultrasabers but a couple of things have stopped me. Firstly, I haven't heard the best feedback about them

Secondly, I was also looking at something more 'unique' than most of the designs at Ultrasabers. I found TCSS, but since then I developed have my own design which I'm leaning towards saving up for. If I got something like an Ultrasaber i'd probably end up replacing it and I want something that I can work with for as long as possible. Just being a uni student who isn't working i'd have to keep it to just the one saber for a while, and I would want to be as happy as I can with it.

I appreciate the heads up for electronics but my sink tube saber doesn't have any room for any installs, it's completely solid, haha.

Hey Dimes, good to see you active on the forums again Big Grin

Yeah, sabers are the $$$ bit of the costume. My two Ultrasabers that I got for Ahsoka were around $500. Crazy! But if you have your heart set on a saber design, definitely save up and go with that option rather than buying a basic blade that you might not use in the future.

The belt you've listed looks great! Good price for all that comes with it too Cool

As for boots, check eBay or even DFO (there's one near the Brisbane airport and one at Jindalee). Occasionally they'll have cheap ones. Not always, but try your luck!

PS. Thanks for the vote on the other forums! Cheers

Sarah

Haha Thanks, it's good to have things rolling again.

Sabers demand the big moneys thats for sure, haha, even the 'grab a bag' thing was going to be at LEAST $120. So I think your right on holding out. I would of been happy with an ultrasaber but as tend to do, I kept researching and came up with my own set up, now I can't go back :/

I didn't think of DFO, i'm on the coast so Brisbane might be a bit out of the way for me, but it reminded me that Harbour town has a shopping centre thats pretty similar. I'll keep searching the net either way Smile

I had some boots ordered from China but they ended up in Russia… Got my money back though!

And no problem, was happy to help, hope you win!

I'll just keep chipping away with the costume, if I can grab at least one of the next pieces in the next couple of weeks i'll be happy.

I posted this some time ago. If you're looking for boots there are some sources in there. http://tatooinebase.com.au/forum/showthread.php?tid=137

I would recommend Costume Creations by Robin - http://www.costumecreationsbyrobin.com.au/shoes

I have a pair of their brown Jedi Boots, with spats, VERY comfortable. Which is hard to find with my size US13 feet. Tongue

I don't know where all this bad press for Ultrasabers is coming from, all but 1 of my sabers are Ultrasabers, and I only had a problem with 1 grab bag saber. I duel with them too at DW each year for SvJ. Wink However I do agree with Satay, if you have a personal design in mind, then yes save the $mulah$ and get the one you want. Wink

Your thread has actually been a handy guide Hopfot, it's how I got onto aliexpress. I talked to Robin maybe a month ago, but his stuff is just a bit too much out of my price range. I'll probably try aliexpress one more time, and if that doesn't work it seems like Robin might be my best bet, seeing that anything decent seems to be around $100 anyway.

Honestly most of the bad press has been coming from another prominent forum that specialises in sabers that I have been on for a while. By the time I moved passed the negative feedback I was wanting something of my own making anyway so it didn't really matter.

I think most of the negative feedback is pretty 'outdated'. So who knows, if it turns out that my design would equal a pot of gold to make, I may turn back to Ultrasabers, or even saberforge as I liked their designs as well.

Just to ask as well while my thread is moving along for the time being, where are people grabbing their robes? I really like Mystik Merchants, especially as their price includes shipping. A robe is one of the last things I had been considering as its not really needed, but the ol'e Birthday is getting close and a robe may just make it onto the list Smile

Another option if you feel like going the "Jedi way" and making it yourself is Custom Saber Shop. Buy all the bits and pieces yourself and build it yourself. Wink
http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/

Oooh, also, not sure if you came across it, but on the same site as your belt you can get an Anakin belt in black. That way you can keep the boots you have for now. Just a cheaper option to get you through the approval process. Wink

Also just added the costumebase links into my resource thread. Tongue
