Townsville Special Children's Christmas Party

Venue: Ryan Community Centre

Time: 4-8pm

Mission: "To help Santa bring some awesome Star Wars magic to some very special children". To be a fun presence for the kids, provide escort service to the toys.....and to dance.

Details:
We battled parking issues to meet by 4pm-ish, kitted up and braved the throng. We went with a Christmas theme and were adorned as such. Meandering around the green, kids of all ages had photos with us for a couple of hours. To give the troopers some cooler work, we took on the role of escort indoors, taking kids and their families from the toy-line to the toy-counter and then on to Santa. Returning outdoors in the cool of dusk, we were tricked into dancing on the main stage. Seantrooper weaseled out of it by being unable to get up the stairs. We were welcomed with some Star Wars music, but that soon turned to a seemingly eternal version of Funky Town. Wiggling and wobbling followed. We ended the night with some more photos with the kids, and Seantrooper got hugged by a series of ewoks. He survived.

Charity Funds Raised: N/A

Injuries / Malfunctions: No injuries, took breaks to cope with heat. Vep's elf hat kept falling off. CatThrawn kept putting it back on.

Public Incidents: A little girl cried, but she was ok. We danced on a stage to 'Funky Town', which felt like a public incident to us. CatThrawn rescued a little boy who had gotten stuck amongst a bank of seats that were taller than himself. He was lifted to safety and thanked by the mother that had misplaced him.

Mission Status: Resounding success.
