General Kenobi - Clone Wars seasons 3,4,5

Hey guys, here's a thread for my Clone Wars Obi Wan build.


General Kenobi reference.


Creating the gauntlets begins.


Foam pieces


Hand armor.


Gauntlets cooling down after heat gun.


Filling in the gaps.


Priming the gauntlets with gesso.


Right arm symbol made in Illustrator.


Early work on the tabards, obi and outer tunic. Obi Wan's Clone Wars outfit is lighter and less yellow than the ROTS outfit. Here I've gone for a material choice to approximate the animation.

Trial run at Supanova Brisbane 2013 - it went over very well. Tatooine Base member Satay also trials her Ahsoka Tano build. My CW belt was still under construction, so here I'm wearing a ROTS replica belt and pouches.


I was happy with how the blue contacts turned out: very Clone Wars. Note, the symbol on Obi Wan's gauntlet is a temp, it's smaller than the finished transfer.


The new Obi Wan build fit in well with the excellent Brisbane Clone Wars cosplay group. Tatooine Base member Angelman makes for an imposing Cody in the middle.


Boots reference: they're basically an animated version of Obi Wan's ROTS pair.


Base: reddish brown cavalry boots.


Boot Spat pattern that I made out of newspaper.


Transferring the pattern to vinyl.


Boots with spats and ankle straps.


Belt reference.

Belt under construction: hand made buckle (foam, worbla, spray paint) with replica CW Jedi pouches.


Full General Kenobi CW build finished (with droid communicator and replica ROTS/CW 3,4,5 hilt).


Action pose with lightsaber blade attached.

Looking good there Alpha P. My only query is the belt appears to be black while the boots are brown, and as a general rule this isn't allowed. Going by the reference pics the belt appears to be a dark/black colour but the boxes on the belt appear to be brown, which I think indicates the belt is meant to be dark brown.

Hey Stormraven, the belt is actually dark brown - same colour as the inner tunic. It does look dark in some pics. But so does the replica ROTS (see Supanova pics) belt which is reddish brown in real life.

The Obi Wan animation belt is quite a bit darker than his boots. Would brightening the belt make it too close to the boot colour??

I'll have to get some pics with brighter lighting.

wow nice work, i was thinking of doing this a few years ago, then i saw the price to get the armour parts and that idea went with the wind. but nice work! well done.

Wow great detailed work you do not muck around! Loved your Obi Wan at Nova, especially the eyes! Armour and hair and beard , you really nailed it!

The build thread is going over very well on the Rebel Legion international forum. Even got the thumbs up from the excellent Danish Anakin Skywalker cosplayer.

It's the first build I've seen specifically made for Clone Wars S3,4,5 - and not using the ROTS outfit as a base. Hopefully it gets approved soon, making it a world first - and by a Tatooine Base member.

Its looking real good there Obi Wan, loving the crepe hair work.. Very fitting for a General.. Im thinking I should finish up doing my Clone Wars General Skywalker that I had planned
