Hi everyone,

Trying to decide on some boots with Legion standards in mind and Iv'e come up with a bit of a shortlist. I'm on a budget too so that's also been effecting my choices.

Pretty much just wanted to ask those who have been around the block their thoughts, to make sure i'm not looking at boots which would not meet Legion standards. Also, any general advice on buying would be great.

I wanted to wait until my tunic was here so that I could start a WIP and just ask there, but some of these boots have deals on for a short time, so I might wanna act fast.

Here i'll post some links to my favourites/budget worthy choices:

http://www.911buycostume.com/Pages/gogob...4BN_LG.htm

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/of-soft-s...87567.html

I'm also looking at Funtasma varieties as well.

Unfortunately couldn't post this in the costuming advice section, just so people are not confused as to why I started the thread here.

Thanks Guys

The second one looks the best to me, but you might be able to work with the others too.

I'm not the best expert when it comes to Jedi boots, but sometimes when the boots have extra buckles on them, they need to be removed, covered, or adapted to be more of the right style, etc.

Also, now that we're approaching the cooler season, a lot of shoe stores are bringing out their Winter Range, which often includes a lot of boots. The boots I've seen are mostly for Women, but depending what size you are, you might find some to fit. Check out some of those Bargain Shoe Stores. Smile

You're on the right track though.

Hey Mate
Probably the 2nd pair I agree.
There are some good boots available down at Costume Creations By Robin, at Carara Markets.
Under $100. They only come in S, M and L so best to try them on. But at least you get to see them instead of hoping they will fit you off the net. A few folk have got this pair.

They are boot number 28 in the list on the net. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, I thought too that the second boots would be best. Only thing is shipping the Funtasma boots from America is often equal to or more than the price of the boots themselves! This is also why I have liked the other two options, they are in China so shipping wasn't total insanity, and yeah, obviously the buckles are a risk.

So costumes by robin is my best bet here in Aus for sure, but I haven't heard back from her on price. I might have to head down to the markets this weekend Smile

Thanks again guys for your input!

If by second pair you all mean these ones http://www.911buycostume.com/Pages/gogob...4BN_LG.htm
I would be hesitant, simply because they look alot like my first pair of Jedi boots, which are now my Tusken boots. Why, they started to fall apart, the sole kept coming off, and the vinyl was tearing rather badly. So I wrapped them up into my tusken boots.

I would go one of the other 2, just depending on the colour. If you're going old republic (earth tones) then the brown http://www.aliexpress.com/item/of-soft-s...87567.html
Unless you go something different.

They also look good because they are different, and the buckle is a nice touch. Wink

Thanks Hopfot,
That was one of my concerns with the 911 boots, people seem to be split down the middle on whether they last.

With the other two, would the brown work for a more prequel generic jedi? The third link, is actually the same boot as the second, just in the brown. So the third link is essentially what I would use.

Looking through heaps of old forum posts in the legion, a fair amount of people seem to get into acceptance with buckles, i'm sure they would be fine. I hope so anyway, I actually like the look of the buckles as well Big Grin.

The costume Standard says you can have a buckle so long as it doesn't detract from the look. And I think it works here.

http://www.rebellegion.com/about_standar...p?id=39468

8. Boots:
Brown or Black Boots – Leather or leather-like (no rubber boots).
a. Over-the-calf, but not above the knee.
b. No visible laces or outside zippers. When necessary, inside zippers are permitted.
c. Straps & shin-spats are allowed but not required (though can be used to cover laces and zippers).
d. Boots and belts should match (be of a complimentary color), i.e., black and black or brown and brown. No black/brown combinations.
e. Buckles are permitted, but should complement the boot and not detract from the overall look of the Jedi costume.
f. Low-heeled 1 - 1 1/2 inches maximum. Spike heels are not permitted.

Exactly, They still look suitable to the Star wars universe without looking like being from any other time period or setting, if you ask me. I'm sure worse case I could do some modifications anyway.

I agree the boots you have shown all look suitable, just remember 8d and make sure your boots and belt color match.

LOL Robin is a guy ...and the boots are I think $90 from memory from Creations by Robin. He's notoriously hard to get hold of too....but he gets back to you eventually. I think the store at the Cararra markets are only open on the weekends.
