New Fleet Trooper - Ian - 15-05-2014

Hi guys,

I am going to try and make myself a Fleet Trooper outfit!
Rachel has already given me some awesome resources to try and source most of the parts.

I have ordered a blaster to modify which should be on its way, the only other challenging item I believe is the Helmet. I have sent an email to see if I can get one from TK560 but have not heard back yet.
Another source is at http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/rebelfleettrooper/rfthelmet_forsale.html

Would anyone be confirm for me if this will comply?

Cheers,

Ian

Gday Ian I have not bought from Studio Creations but I know of others who have. One question to ask though is "is it in stock" if it is you can usually get it fairly quickly but if its not sometimes you may have to wait till they do a run.

Good luck with your build and if you any questions ask away.

So, My blaster has arrived and I just wanted to check and see what others did when modding theirs.
I'm trying to make a DH-17.

Here, there is text molded onto the side of the blaster, was going to sand this off.

This is the 'dart holder' I was going to remove this.

I have seen some people leave this, some people cut it off and others shorten it and put a ring on it for a lanyard. I am still undecided.

All these 'metal fasteners with a tapered helical thread' { I had to edit this or get censored!} holes, I was planning to fill.

'Star wars' molded onto the plastic. Sand and remove.

Then paint and I think it should be done!

Looks and sounds good.
For the dart loader, I would go with shorten and attach ring.

Hi Ian,
Great start on your RFT.

Yes Studiocreations is where the 4 of us that bought our at the same time got them from . He was slow in that he received a bad batch of plastic from his supplier and was hoping to find a better source of it, but in the end we finished up with 4 decent kits which we assembled together and they were approved with no problem . He kept us informed most of the way so I would have no issue recommendif his kit.

For your blaster yes you can cut off the dart loader with maybe an inch sticking out, drill a hole in it and fit a D ring . More screen accurate . Some of us cut off the clear cover where the scope light is and paint the orange bit inside the glue the clear cover back on, some don't, up to you.

You're right to sand/dremel off all the raised writing and fill all unnecessary holes and sand over. The nozzle and panel on the side are silver and the rest is black. Did you need reference pics or you are ok with that ?

i did this a few years ago, and made a kind of build thread here http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36437

An Update on the blaster mod.....

I filled a few of the smaller holes and imperfections with some bog.

I cut off the dart holder.

Close up of the rail.

I then filled this with bog (picture later)

I also pulled the clear cap off the sight (this was a real pain to get off, they used a lot of glue)

No more other progress on the costume as yet. Waiting for more funds to become available to buy clothes and boots.

Ian

Good work Ian!!! Never hurts to get done whatever you can while you wait for funds/postage etc....suddenly everything is ready to go at once and ...oh no I forgot my weapon!

RE: New Fleet Trooper - Ian - 27-08-2014

Started putting my helmet together tonight.
DH-17 is almost finished, needs a lanyard and the clear piece put back on the scope (if it is still ok after I struggled to take it off)

All the parts.

Temporarily taped the white visor in place.

Temporarily taped the Smoke visor in place.

Drilled through both visors and helmet.

Bolted visors in place.

Taped the swept wing in place.

Drilled the wing and helmet and bolted the wing in place.

I used the same holes to secure the chin strap.

Looks good Ian just one small detail the black strap goes on the outside of the chin guard instead of the inside. Like this![Image: 956ee57b5b5c6a85bda204c6ca1ff721.jpg]
